St. Bartholomew's Church, Whittingham numerous alterations and additions have resulted in a variety of architectural styles from 8thC to 20thC. The lower parts of the west wall and the tower probably date from around 737AD; the masonary immediately above is later Saxon and the upper section of the tower was rebuilt in 1839-40. There was formally a chapel in the south transept dedicated to St.Peter, of which only an Early English piscina remains.
