No 4 Clayton Street West - Probably by Walker & Wardle for Richard Grainger 1837. Listed Grade II
No 85 Westgate Road - Cackett & Burns Dick c.1910.
The splendid Art Nouveau turret and offices were built up against, and into, Grainger's shops and houses of Clayton Street West. The 1910 property picks up on the usual grand columns but embeds large square blocks into them. It also adds stone shelves at the second floor and takes great stone vanes through the windows on the fourth floor. The whole building is confidently topped off with an open turret with a green copper dome and flag pole.
