St. Cuthbert's Church, Norham, had the same architect as the nearby castle. Here King Edward 1 arbitrated between various claimants to the Scottish crown; other transactions between the two kingdoms took place in the church. The church has had a long association with the Prince-Bishops of Durham. The earliest parts of the buildingare the chancel, the south arcade of the nave, various pillars on the north side and the foundations of the side wall. There were some renovations in the 19thC.
